Job Description:



SUMMARY:

Manages and supervises all aspects of the mechanics in this persons charge, from two to six per shift.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Must be able to reorganize, assess and respond to any mechanical, electrical or structural damage.
  • Ability to follow procedures to make repairs with in-house labor or outside service companies.
  • Support and maintain Horseshoe courtesy guidelines.
  • Promote outstanding guest relations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Directly supervises Facilities Tech III (Electrician), Facilities Tech III (Plumber), Facilities Dispatcher, HVAC Technician, Facilities Tech I, Senior Mechanic, Mechanic, Senior Groundskeeper, and Groundskeepers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Handles special projects as assigned.

Assists with writing capital requests for major repairs and equipment purchases.

Assists in the development of the annual business plan and budget for department expenditures.

Manages daily maintenance and repairs on all building mechanical systems, equipment and tools, public areas, guest rooms, and central plant.

Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of facilities in all public and non-public areas.

Manages maintenance of all HVACs, kitchen, electric, gas, and steam-powered equipment, energy management equipment, and operation of life safety systems throughout property.

Manages all areas to include cleaning and maintenance.

Ensures consistent, high quality maintenance standards are maintained for the entire property.

Handles and responds to all guest complaints.

Responsible for maintenance and repairs to include heating, cooling, electrical, television, plumbing, and telephone systems.

Oversees all emergency situations, i.e. power outages, alarms, etc.

Responsible for the proper scheduling of employees, ensuring a high level of guest service while maintaining control of labor costs.

Motivates employees in their respective areas.

Supervises assigned personnel, assuring that each employee receives appropriate training and timely performance appraisals in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Responsible for ensuring ADA compliance for casino and hotel areas.

Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.

  • Spends the majority of time interviewing, training, and selecting employees.


Conducts Performance Reviews.

Makes or recommends wage increases.

Makes or recommends promotions.

Provides for safety and security.

Handles employees' complaints or grievances.

Recommends disciplinary action or disciplines employees.

Plans work.

Supervises and monitors work.

Monitors legal compliance with federal, state, and gaming laws.



DEMANDS TO COMPLETE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



PHYSICAL & MENTAL:

Must be able to work independently.

Must be capable of maneuvering for prolonged periods of time.

Responds to visual and aural cues.

Must be able to stoop, bend, as well as, maneuver up and down stairs.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Must have the manual dexterity to grab, grip, type, pull, hold, tear, sort, reach, and file appropriate paperwork.

Must be able to operate the following equipment: computer, telephones, fax, and copy machine.

Must possess the coordination and dexterity to work with sweeper, high-pressure steamer, company vehicles, front loaders, manlifts, backhoes, and other necessary equipment.

Must be able to perform physical and mental duties of engineering personnel.

Must present a well-groomed appearance.



WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to recognize and respond to individuals with their questions.

Must be able to learn and retain locations, operation, and repair procedures of this propertys mechanical systems, equipment, and life safety system.

  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing second hand smoke, dust and bright lights


Must be able to respond to calmly and make rational decisions, when handling guest and employee conflicts.

Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.



Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Horseshoe from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employee with irregular attendance will be subject to Horseshoe disciplinary action procedures up to and including termination of employment.



Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, employee may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.



Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Horseshoe policies and procedures for the safe and efficient operation of Company facilities. Employees who violate Company policies and procedures are subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.









Qualifications:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have knowledge of many different trades (Painting, Carpentry, Etc) as he supervises the repairs to the Hotel Tower



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five years of experience in this field.



LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.



REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.



OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to obtain the appropriate work authorization per gaming regulations required.
