Performs complex problem determination and resolution and records
all trouble situations reported to I.T. Provides specialized
technical problem solving and problem resolution skills. GENERAL
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or
related fields or equivalent experience. Background Supervisory
experience in a technical computer support environment preferred.
Some training in the data processing field beneficial. Minimum five
(5) years' experience within Information Technology, with at least
three (3) years advanced technical support. Strong personal
computing skills. Demonstrated advanced level technical skills in
all platforms; an understanding of multiple operating systems,
transaction processing systems, architecture, client/server
technology, communications protocols, and various types of computer
workstation equipment and messaging systems. Demonstrated
intermediate-level skills on all platforms. Knowledge of computer
system installation, troubleshooting, problem determination, and
restoration techniques. Advanced knowledge of networking
technologies, electronic hardware and software, real-time systems,
and mission-critical systems. Excellent technical communication
skills and proven expertise in dealing with user problems and
vendor relationships. Advanced knowledge of Property I.T.
operations help desk, and user environments. Intermediate business
management, systems operations management, and project management
skills. Advanced analytical and problem solving skills. Excellent
customer service skills. Must be well organized and detail oriented
and be able to perform many tasks at one time. Available to work in
a 24 hour, 7 day a week environment. Ability to lead and motivate
employees working in a high-pressure, fast paced environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assists in the preparation and control of
the departmental budget and capital expenditure requests. Reviews
and analyzes department cost against plan and prepares variance
explanations as needed. Ensures all lease and maintenance invoices
are paid on time. Resolves invoice discrepancies with vendors.
Hires and supervises Support Technician and Support Specialists I &
II. Develops standards for I. T. Operations performance and methods
to assure compliance to those standards and methods. Counsels,
guides, and instructs personnel in the proper performance of their
duties. Performs employee performance planning, appraisal and
reviews for all employees. Maintains timely work history entries on
all employees' performance. Recommends changes in hiring,
promotion, demotion and termination. Recommends wage and salary
adjustments for personnel with established limits. Leads workflow
for appropriate shifts including meeting timelines, scheduling
jobs, and documenting completion of tasks. Responds to telephone
help calls and ensure that all client/user support calls and
service requests are handled or escalated in a timely manner.
Provides advanced support for all systems including software and
hardware for all platforms, problem determination/isolation,
analyzing problem data, performing data analysis, documenting
findings, escalating complex problems to the appropriate I.T. staff
or service vendors and communicating final resolution to clients
and users. Ultimately responsible for completion and documentation
of all assigned day-to-day tasks/activities per the Daily Work
Schedule for each system and shift. These functions include first
level support for client/user requests, system backups, printing,
routing, and other duties. Responsible for monitoring service and
project support to achieve maximum quality commitment to
clients/users. Develops, implements, and communicates procedures,
which insure minimum down time and prompt recovery of failed
computer systems, applications and database components which have a
direct effect on customer service to Harrah's customers and guests.
Ensures the latest procedures and documentation for all platforms
are maintained. Performs advanced technical tasks on all platforms.
Uses the help desk application (Applix) to track and close all
client/user calls/problems reported to I. T. Ensures the
computer/equipment room is maintained at prescribed temperature
levels and in a clean and orderly condition. Provides one-on-one
training for all support staff and clients/users. Responsible for
the Change Management practices on property systems. Responsible
for administering property LAN file servers. Guides and instructs
assigned personnel in the proper performance of their duties.
Provides input to the department management for periodic
performance reviews by completing first draft of employee's review.
Delegates projects effectively to others. Assists in development of
internal procedures and ensure that all procedures that support the
property's computer systems are performed according to standards.
Performs tasks at the direction of department Management. Analyzes
system performance to ensure optimum system performance; report
performance issues as needed. Manages department-driven or
property-driven projects. Maintains the confidential nature of
matters pertaining to company records, policies, and customer
lists. Ensure reports containing sensitive data as determined by
management are shredded. Maintains a log of all system downtime and
report all extended downtime to the supervisor and/or manager.
Performs all duties in a manner that ensures the I.T. Department
will meet or exceed the measurable objectives for service level to
clients/users and system availability. Maintains property technical
asset inventory. Keeps abreast of current trends and technologies
in the industry. Identifies and correct I.T. system security gaps
and violations. Maintains department work schedule and notify
department management of personnel and attendance issues. Assists
department management with scheduling systems downtimes and loading
new versions of operating systems, patches, etc. Documents updates
or changes to productions programs, files and databases to ensure
integrity of the systems and staff understanding of the changes.
Provides input to department management of current lease and
maintenance agreements and code invoices in a timely manner to
avoid late charges. Prepares weekly work schedules for department,
verifies hours worked, and inform department management of upcoming
vacations. Serves as vendor contact for issues needing outside
resolution. Provides Status Reports to department management.
Determines whether to request hardware or software support and/or
repair. Negotiation and mediation skills required to maintain
project timelines, service levels and to settle disputes. Determine
degree of coaching or recognition to manage personnel performance.
DEMANDS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: PHYSICAL AND
MENTAL: Must present a well groomed appearance. Ability to sit at
desk for 8 hour shift with breaks. Ability to lift, bend, stoop,
twist, kneel, crouch, push and pull when necessary. Ability to
respond to visual and aural cues. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ability to
tolerate areas containing bright lights and dust. Must be able to
work at fast pace and in stressful situations. Ability to maneuver
